Urgent Couriers uses many types of vehicles for its services.
That means we need to know what size your job is. The information on this page will provide you with a helpful guide to the differing capacities of each of the vehicles and various other volumetric measures that are relevant.

Bikes

Pushbike and motorcycle couriers use a purpose-designed waterproof pack to carry the parcels. The photos below illustrate what can actually be carried in by one of our bike couriers.

Cars

We classify all couriers driving hatchbacks and small station wagons as car couriers. Couriers will carry as much as can fit in the back of their vehicles for no extra volume surcharge. Weight surcharges apply for jobs over 30 kg. See the photos below as an illustration of what can actually fit. The following table is an indication of maximum dimensions for any one item.

Max length = 1500mm
Max width = 900mm

Max height = 730mm

Vans

We have approximately 25% of our vehicle fleet driving light vans with a load capacity of 1000 kg. If your job won't fit in a car and you require a van, there will be a surcharge of $27.81. Weight surcharges will also apply for jobs over 30 kg. The following table and photos will give you an indication of what will fit in a van.

Max length = 2400mm
Max width = 1100mm

Max height = 1100mm

Volumetric Weight

For jobs traveling on the Air Nationwide, Nationwide, and International services, your job cost will be calculated on weight and/or size. For lightweight shipments, the volumetric weight will be charged if this exceeds the actual weight (in kilograms). To calculate the volumetric use the free calculator below.
With Nationwide and International deliveries, large items that are light will be charged according to the space they take up on the truck or aircraft. In these cases, volumetric weight is used to calculate the shipment price.

If you would like to work out the price of a delivery, use the following formula or the calculator below. The greater of the volumetric or actual weight is used to work out the price that we charge you.

Nationwide volumetric weight is calculated using the formula: length x width x height in centimeters / 5000 = volumetric weight in kilograms.

International volumetric weight is calculated using the formula: length x width x height in centimeters / 6000 = volumetric weight in kilograms.
